Azerbaijan increases gas exports to Turkey by more than 20%

In September this year, Turkey imported 753 million cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan.

“QİA.AZ” says referring to the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), the figure is 8% less than in the same period last year.

Azerbaijan ranked second in Turkey’s total gas imports.

In January-September of this year, Azerbaijan exported 8 billion 278.19 million cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey, 20.6% more than January-September 2019.

Notably, in September of this year, Turkey imported a total of 3.72 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which is 22.5% more than in the same month of 2019.

The export leader is Russia (1.85 billion cubic meters), with Iran in third place (514 million cubic meters). Compared to last year, the volume of natural gas imports from Russia increased by 85%, and from Iran decreased by 20.5%.

Notably, Russia is the leader in gas exports to Turkey. The exported 1.85 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey in September. Iran, which ranks third, transported 514 million cubic meters of gas to Turkey in September. Thus, the volume of natural gas exported by Russia to Turkey in September increased by 85% compared to September 2019, while the volume of gas supplied by Iran decreased by 20.5%.
