Pakistan, Turkey agree to adopt joint strategy at international level

Pakistan and Turkey have agreed to adopt a joint strategy at the international level on mutual interest issues and make collaborative efforts to strengthen the bilateral cooperation further.

The understanding was reached when the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Wednesday and met his Pakistani Counterpart, Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

During the meeting, the two foreign ministers reviewed Pakistan-Turkey bilateral relations’ entire gamut and exchanged views on regional and international issues.

Expressing satisfaction over the nature of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkey, foreign ministers agreed to ensure the early implementation of the decisions taken at the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) meeting in Islamabad.

Ministers also stressed the need to ensure the 71-point Strategic Economic Framework (SEF) early implementation between Pakistan and Turkey.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi apprised his Turkish Counterpart of the grave human rights violations committed by Indian forces in Indian Illegal Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the threats posed to the regional peace.

Qureshi thanked the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu for his unwavering support for the Kashmir issue.

High officials expressed concerns over the rising trend of Islamophobia and stressed joint efforts to protect Islamic values.

Earlier after his arrival at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Turkish foreign minister planted a sapling at the lawn of the Ministry.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is on a working visit to Pakistan for a three-day.

The visiting dignitary and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov will also attend the 2nd Pakistan-Turkey-Azerbaijan Trilateral Meeting being held in Islamabad later in the day.
