“The number of people infected with the coronavirus has increased again in Azerbaijan. Fortunately, we do not observe an increase concerning complications and mortality rate, owing to the active vaccination process in the country,” Parviz Abubakirov, head of the Media and Communications Department of the Ministry of Health, told Report.

The ministry official said that if the citizens participate in the vaccination process more actively, complications and mortality rates will reduce. The importance of vaccination is to protect from the disease by creating immunity against the infection in the human body, restricting transmission of the virus, and preventing death. A comparative analysis of the current situation with the previous days shows that the mortality rate is very low.

‘Some vaccinated people can be infected with the virus, but studies have already shown that they will have milder disease. Because of the reduced viral loads, most of these individuals had very mild symptoms or were unaware they were infected. It means that the use of the vaccine prevents the spread of the virus and leads to a significant reduction in human infections. Therefore, the Ministry of Health asks citizens to be vaccinated without delay.
