“28 years have passed since we left Shusha, but without Shusha, it was so hard that I can’t express it in words, ” 67-year-old Gulbasti Badrikhanova, a Shusha resident who has visited the city for the first time after 30-year separation, told Report.
“Thank God, today we are not internally displaced persons. Thank God we are in native Shusha again. Though miraculous it may seem, we are here, we are back,” she said.
“We are back to Shusha thanks to our Supreme Commander, our strong army. I have cried tears of joy today. I cannot believe that I am in Shusha again. It is like I am dreaming. I told my children that I don’t want to die before I see Shusha,” she said.
Gulbasti noted that she left Shusha at the age of 38. She said she does not want to leave the city again.
“I do not want to leave Shusha again, and I pray that the car breaks and we stay here. I took some soil from the Jidir Plain and will scatter it on the graves of my deceased family members and relatives,” the former IDP said.
