“While the trade between Azerbaijan and Iraq has risen by 40% over the past year, the situation in this sphere is not quite satisfactory. There is broad potential for the development of cooperation between the countries,” Azerbaijan’s Minister of Transport, Communication and High Technologies, Rashad Nabiyev, who presides over the commission from the Azerbaijani side, said at the 2nd session of the Joint Commission between Azerbaijan and Iraq which took place in Baku.

“One of the main tasks of the Joint Commission is to create opportunities for new cooperation. In this regard, we support the creation of the Azerbaijan-Iraq Business Council,” the minister said.

After the session, the Iraqi delegation will visit the Free Economic Zone in the Alat settlement of Baku’s Qaradag district.
