Electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 1,980 million kWh in May 2021, Report informs referring to the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry.
Exports made up 16 million kWh, imports 29 million kWh,
In comparison with January-February last year, the electricity production in the republic in January-May 2021 amounted to 10,928 million kWh. During the reporting period, electricity generation at thermal power plants (TPPs) increased by 20 million kWh reaching 10,115 million kWh, at hydropower plants (HPPs) rose by 110 million kWh to 659 million kWh, and at other sources (wind power plants, solar power plants, and solid household waste incineration plant) rose by 2 million kWh to 154 million kWh. The WPPs generated 39 million kWh of electricity, SPPs – 20 million kWh, and solid household waste incineration plants -95 million kWh.
In January-May 2021, the electricity generation made up 9,791 million kWh on Azerenergy OJSC (9,209 million kWh at TPPs, 582 million kWh at HPPs), 161 million kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (74 million kWh at TPPs, 69 million kWh at HPPs, 19 million kWh at SPP), 948 million kWh on independent power plants and 28 million kWh at WPPs on Azerishig OJSC.
During the reporting period, electricity imports amounted to 77 million kWh. 14 million kWh was imported from Iran, 39 million kWh from Russia, 23 million kWh electricity from Georgia.
During this period, electricity exports increased by 48 million kWh to 570 million kWh. Of this, 14 million kWh electricity was exported to Iran, 13 million kWh to Turkey, 39 million kWh to Russia, 503 million kWh to Georgia.
