Azerbaijan's revenues from polypropylene exports up more than 43%

In January-June 2021, according to customs declarations, Azerbaijan earned $66.9 million from the exports of 50,500 tons of primary polypropylene, respectively, up 43.3% and down 14.1% from the previous year, Report informs citing the State Customs Committee.

In the first half of 2021, the share of polypropylene in Azerbaijan’s non-oil exports amounted to 4.94%. However, its stake in the country’s total exports equated to only 0.59%.

The SOCAR Polymer project includes polypropylene plants with an annual capacity of 184,000 tons and high-density polyethylene plants with a yearly capacity of 120,000 tons. The polypropylene plant was commissioned on July 18, 2018, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Italian President Sergio Mattarella. Export of polypropylene started on October 5.
