Baku port reveals details of environmental strategy

The Baku Seaport has developed a new strategy to improve measures to protect the environment, Report informs.

In line with the strategy, by 2035, the hothouse gas emissions at the port will be reduced to zero. Several novelties are planned in this regard:

– The port will allow the operation of only those transport means (electric carts and so on) and equipment that work on green fuel;

The vessels entering the water territory of the port will be fully supplied with electricity;

– Only tugboats working on electricity or green fuel will be operated in the water territory of the port;

– Only green energy, including solar and wind power, will be used in the ground and water territory of the port;

– All office buildings and facilities in the seaport territory will be brought in compliance with the ‘green standards.’

The Baku port is the region’s first port with the status of the ‘Green Port.’
