On February 28, the Georgian parliament plans to hold a vote on confidence in the new government, and the current defense minister Irakli Garibashvili has been nominated for the post of the prime minister, “QİA.AZ” informs, referring to TASS.
The issue of voting was included in the agenda of the extraordinary plenary session.
Garibashvili, who already led the Georgian government in 2013-2015, made minimal changes to his second Cabinet composition. All ministers retained their posts, except for the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure and the Minister of Defense.
For the post of the new Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the parliament proposed Irakli Karseladze, who had previously been the first deputy head of the ministry, and Juansher Burchuladze will become the new minister of defense.
He was the deputy defense minister.
The ruling party ‘Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia,’ which is represented in parliament by 90 deputies, is confident that Garibashvili’s cabinet will be approved without problems, since more than 75 MPs must agree to express confidence.
