Japan tightens entry measures for nationals of 41 countries, territories

Starting from July 1, Japan is tightening measures against visitors from 41 countries and regions, Report informs with reference to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.

The tightening of measures is associated with the spread of the delta coronavirus strain, first detected in India.

The most severe measures will be introduced against visitors from Afghanistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, and the Maldives. They will have to go through quarantine in facilities established by the authorities, during which they will have to take coronavirus tests three times.

The visitors from Indonesia, Uganda, the UK, Egypt, Bangladesh, and Malaysia will need to undergo a 6-day quarantine, and they will be required to get tested for COVID twice.

Visitors from 29 other countries, including Russia, Spain, 14 US states, Belgium, will have to undergo a three-day quarantine, after which they will be required to get tested once for coronavirus.

After spending the required period in quarantine and presenting a negative test result, visitors from these countries will be further quarantined at home or in the place of residence until the expiration of the 14-day period after arriving in Japan.
