June 2021 among hottest months in history of meteorological observations

June 2021 has become one of the hottest months in the world, sharing fourth place with June 2018 after similar periods in 2016, 2019, and 2020, according to the report of the satellite monitoring program Copernicus, Report informs referring to TASS.

Last month was on average 0.21 degrees Celsius warmer than the same periods for 1991-2020.

June 2021 was the second warmest month in Europe after June 2019, peaking in the eastern part of the region. The average temperature of last June in Europe was 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than the same periods in 1991-2020.

Last month also broke several temperature records in parts of North America, making it the warmest June on record on the mainland. In the region of Arctic Siberia, June 2021 entered the top five hottest June months, ranking fourth after June 2018, 2019, and 2020. At the same time, the temperature in Antarctica was below average.

All presented results are based on computer analysis using various measurements from satellites, ships, aircraft, and weather stations worldwide.
