Russia records delta plus strain of COVID-19

A delta plus strain of the coronavirus has been discovered in Russia, said Anna Popova, head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being.

Report informs, citing RIA Novosti, that the delta plus strain (B.1.617.2.1) was recorded in June in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a mutation of the widespread delta variant (B.1.617.2).
