Biden extends Trump sanctions against Cuba

US President Joe Biden has extended sanctions against Cuba, “QİA.AZ” informs, referring to TASS.

The case is the 1996 sanctions regime, amended in 2004, 2016, and 2018.

In particular, Biden confirmed the ban on US-registered vessels from entering Cuba’s territorial waters without the US authorities’ permission, as this could lead to ‘mass migration from Cuba.’

Barack Obama’s administration, under which Biden was vice president, lifted several sanctions against Cuba and took steps to improve relations. Under Donald Trump, the US returned many sanctions against Cuba. At the same time, the trade embargo imposed by Congress has remained unchanged for more than half a century. Biden hasn’t yet taken any steps indicating a revision of Trump’s policy towards Cuba.
