Sayyid Ebrahim Raisol-Sadati, commonly known as Ebrahim Raisi, has won the presidential elections in Iran, gaining more than 17.6 million votes, with a total of 28.6 million people voted, according to the headquarters for holding elections in Iran, Report informs referring to TASS.

Seven candidates were competing for the post of Iranian leader, but three of them withdrew their candidacies later. The struggle unfolded between the head of the Iranian judiciary, Ebrahim Raisi, two other conservative politicians – Secretary of the Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei and Vice-Chairman of the Iranian Parliament Amir Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi, as well as a reformer and former governor of the Central Bank of Iran Abdolnaser Hemmati.

The incumbent President, Hassan Rouhani, wasn’t taking part in the elections. Experts believe that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei supported Raisi.
