A startup from Switzerland plans to build a vacuum transportation system under the Alps, on which a train will transport passengers at a speech of over 1,2000 km/hs, Report informs, citing foreign media.

The idea to use a capsule on an airbag in a tube with minimal pressure as a transport first appeared in the early 20th century. Nonetheless, it got a new life after famous US businessman Elon Musk developed the Hyperloop project in 2013.

A small-sized Swiss tech company Swisspod plans to build a vacuum road between Zurich and Geneva, located 250 km from each other, and transport passengers and cargoes by the road for 17 minutes.

The company has already built a small test road in the territory of the Swiss Federal Technological Institute in Lausanne to study the impact of an electromagnetic rod on the movement of a capsule in the low-pressure tunnel.
